Child Safe Standards
Child Safe Communities
Every child is entitled to be educated and cared for in a safe environment, and in a manner that optimises their opportunities to grow and develop to reach their full potential.
Catholic Education Tasmania is a child safe organisation that:
- is committed to child safe practices and procedures,
- takes a preventative, proactive and participatory stance on child safety issues, and
- has zero tolerance to child abuse.
The Catholic Education Commission Tasmania (CECT) established Child Safe Standards setting out the behavioural and system requirements necessary to guide child safety practices and procedures within Catholic Education Tasmania.
WORKING WITH VULNERABLE PEOPLE
Catholic Education Tasmania requires employees, volunteers and external providers engaged to work on school and college sites to hold Working with Vulnerable People registration. Working with Vulnerable People is a compulsory background check for many people who work or volunteer with children and vulnerable people in Tasmania.
