Catholic Education Employers Declare an ‘Impasse’ to Industrial Negotiations

Representatives of Tasmanian Catholic Education Employers today met with the Independent Education Union (IEU) in Hobart to discuss ongoing claims relating to employment conditions for Catholic School employees.

Despite re-visiting a number of issues with the IEU in good faith, satisfactory agreement was unable to be negotiated in relation to the issues surrounding school support staff, pastoral care, and redundancy pay.

However, given recent statements indicating imminent strike action within Catholic schools and Colleges and the apparent lack of intention to continue with a negotiated dispute process, the TCSPC considers itself bound to address this statement to both parties.
